Chase, PharmD identifies the most common ESBL-producing bacteria and common ESBL resistance genes, recognizes the use and limitations in using phenotypic and genotypic data to identify potential ESBL-E organisms and discusses clinical trial data and IDSA guidance to assist in the selection of appropriate antimicrobials for the treatment of ESBL-E infections .
